Stretch Goal #1 Unlocked, thank you backers! Now for the next goal...
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jul 24, 2020 at 12:40:32 AM

Thank you Shivers fans, Stretch Goal #1 is unlocked!

We're proud to announce the addition of the two new colored dice, with different positive/negative outcomes, to the Deluxe Game pledge level! We know you'll put these to good use.

Now that we know that you enjoy challenges, here's the next goal:

Stretch Goal #2: Four additional episodes!

That's right, you've asked for it, and we've heard you: many more hours of spooky gameplay! Four more playable episodes for the Deluxe Game pledge level, written by our best-selling gothic fiction writer Darcy Coates. You'll get enough Story Cards for each of the episodes to play across all of the Shiver's pop-up rooms, as well as four new Episode Guides to help you Storytellers lead the adventure.

You'll see our target funding level for this goal is set at $340k, definitely a big stretch. Let's talk about the work that goes into developing a new set of episodes for The Shivers.

Each episode is like a miniature short story for our writing team, with plot arcs, twists and turns, clues, puzzles, villains, and drama. Then our illustrator has to produce artwork for each item on the Story Cards, which amounts to hundreds of individual color renderings. These then need to be prototyped and play-tested multiple times to ensure the episodes flow smoothly. Lastly, our graphic designers will package all the visual and text assets into a clean and readable format for printing and production. All that is before the manufacturer has to produce the actual extra story components and integrate them into the game boxes. Just a brief glimpse at how we'll bring the magic of The Shivers into your homes.

We're confident we can meet this goal. If this is a reward you believe in as well, help share The Shivers story with your friends so we can turn it from a goal into a reality!

Stretch Goal #1 Announcement
almost 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 21, 2020 at 09:31:04 PM

It's stretch goal time!

You've been asking for them, discussing them in the comments section, proposing your stretch goal ideas, and now they're here! We're excited to announce the first of our Stretch Goals. If we reach $300,000 in funding, backers of our Deluxe edition will receive:

These extra two colored dice will enable more advanced game play for those seeking to make their Shivers experience more challenging. The blue dice which already comes with the game is good for general game play, as it generates about 60/40% positive-to-negative outcomes.

The new green dice will be mostly positive outcomes (80/20%) for easily achievable tasks like "Smash the vase with the hammer". Pretty hard to mess that up...

But the red dice, whoa watch out! This dice is reserved only for the most risky and bone-headed decisions, including such classics as "Climb up the bookshelf, swing on the chandelier, and back-flip onto the zombie's back". Negative outcomes (including the infamous Backfire!) heavily outweigh positive outcomes on this dice.

These additions will add richness and more options to the all-important StoryTeller role.

OK, that's it for today, more updates to come soon!
